Matthew R. Dowdell

 

Native Tulsan Matthew R. Dowdell obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa College of Law in May 2004. While at TU Law, Mr. Dowdell served as Dean of the T. Austin Gavin Senate of the Delta Theta Phi Legal Fraternity. After his term, he was awarded the Most Outstanding Student of the Fraternity Award, for the academic year 2003-2004, by the National Vice-Chancellor of Delta Theta Phi. At TU, he was also involved in the Johnson/Sontag American Inn of Court, the Boesche Legal Clinic, as well as a volunteer for the Neighbor for Neighbor Legal Clinic. After admission to the Oklahoma Bar in April 2005, Mr. Dowdell served as in-house counsel for a small, independent oil and gas operator and producer. Mr. Dowdell spent nearly a decade in litigation practice across the state’s Courthouses for firms in both Tulsa and Oklahoma City, his practice focused on Insurance Defense, Medical Malpractice Defense and Business Litigation. Since 2012 he has been in-house at Phillips 66, as part of their Real Estate Services group, a role he continues to this day. In 2023 Mr. Dowdell joined Bond Gill. He is a 1998 graduate of Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Dowdell is an active parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church, a former member of the Bishop Kelley High School Sports Hall of Fame Committee and former President of the Marquette School RISE Program Advisory Board. He and his wife, Jenny, spend their time at their three daughters’ Track Meets and Basketball games for Bishop Kelley and Marquette, as well as seeking out live music anytime they can.
